Mental Health

Mental Health is typically not covered by MSP, and therefore is paid out of pocket. However, some organizations offer resources low-cost or free.

Some mental health resources are covered under the Interim Federal Health Program, including psychiatrists, family doctors, and nurse practitioners under the IFHP Basic Coverage. Other professionals such as clinical psychologists, psychotherapists, or counselling therapists are covered under the IFHP Supplemental Coverage.

If you have been the victim of a violent crime in British Columbia, Crime Victims Assistance Program may offer you support for a multitude of services, including counselling. Please click here to see their website and learn more.

Online resources are also available for you. This can be a wonderful way to connect with a counsellor that is the best fit for you.
